Pick a mood

Three ways into the mansion.

Candlelit Hall

Let the candles lead. Use warm gold near flames, wine red for rich fabrics, and deep brown in the far corners.

Moonlit Stone

Keep the room cool and quiet. Pale blue highlights against slate walls make a window or doorway feel mysterious.

Autumn Threshold

Give pumpkins and leaves the warmest colors. Olive and charcoal help the orange details stand forward.

A simple coloring plan

Start with the light.

01 · Choose a focal point

Pick a candle, window, lantern, or moon. Leave the area nearest that light a shade brighter.

02 · Limit the first pass

Begin with three main colors. Add a fourth accent only when the scene needs it.

03 · Build depth

Use your darkest color in recesses and distant corners; keep foreground details clearer.

Color gently in layers and test markers on spare paper first. Place a protective sheet behind the page when using wet media.
